Crane Lake Recreation Area

Crane Lake Recreation Area was next on the itinerary.  It’s a 100 acre man-made lake circumscribed by a 5 mile trail that is one of the few National Recreation Trails in the state.  The northern half of the trail is shared with the Marble Creek section of the Ozark Trail.

The main attraction here is the waterfalls and shut-ins below the dam.  While not as large or famous as the nearby Johnson’s Shut-Ins, it’s still pretty neat.

After finishing here, I headed to Johnson’s Shut-ins State Park to spend the night at one of their walk-in camp sites.
